Gucci Men Collection : Fall winter 2008 - 2009 |
|
For Fall/Winter 2008-09 Gucci’s creative director Frida Giannini brought us a whimsical, Russian inspired collection. The gipsy punk style dictated the shape as well as the sound of the collection.
Like the women’s collection, the new icon comes from the Eastern part of Europe: precious silks and geometric fantasies, scarves and cashmeres, velvet cardigans are the must of this collection. Reds and purples make powerful statements and come in the form of silks and velvets. Patterned shirts and suits are placed throughout the jingle-jangle collection. A military presence makes itself known in the form of jackets and coats with brass buttons and epaulets.
The mop-headed boys have a rocker chic sense about them as tailored looks are laid on them in a care-free way. Suit jackets and vests are kept informal by being paired with scarves and coin-dangling chain belts. In one of her strongest collections to date, a clear conviction comes across scruffy, unshaven, eyeliner-clad models strutted in gypsy-esque looks.
A raw, gritty essence was provided by a constant riveting seen throughout the collection on embellished leather jackets, thin trim belts, boots, and bags.
