Bugatti Chiron: A Superlative of Luxury

If Volkswagen has been keeping a low profile since the rigged Diesel engines scandal, Bugatti (a company from the same group) has been turning heads with its new ride dripping in excess. Wolfgang Dürheimer, President of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S., set the tone of the new Bugatti Chiron by stating, “We have pushed the boundaries of excellence.” It must be admitted that the manufacturer has pushed the limits of luxury very far with the Bugatti Chiron. One could even say that this new supercar begins where the others ended.

Sophisticated, masculine and elongated, this future Veyron replacement is the interpretation of Bugatti’s new esthetic, drawing inspiration from the Bugatti 57SC Atlantic. In terms of performance, the Bugatti Chiron is already aiming at a new speed record. If its speedometer is calibrated to 310 mph, it’s maximum speed for the road is already flying at 260mph. For this, the manufacturer revisited the adaptive running gear and equipped its cars with tires developed specially for the Chiron.

At the heart of the vehicle, a W16 8 liter engine embellished with four new turbochargers allows the Chiron to develop 1500 hp— a new precedent for this car, whose torque culminates at 1,600 Nm between 2,000 and 6,000 tr/mn.

Produced in Molsheim, the Bugatti Chiron is limited to 500 models. Bugatti’s divine plan is to profit from this model, contrary to the Veyron, whose last models of the 450 produced sold slowly. Bugatti says that a third has already been reduced in price. Suffice to say that the sales team has definitely changed, and that serious arguments are needed to sell this future machine at 2.4 million euros.
